Buffalo Soldiers were an all black cavalry and infantry regiments on the western frontier after the Civil War (1866). These African American Soldiers ‘ job was to protect settlers, capture rustlers, protect stagecoaches and help control Native Americans on the western front.
Although most Indian tribes didn’t participate in the enslavement of blacks in America, the Cherokee, Chickasaw, Choctaw and other tribes did. They used the same violence and brutality against their black slaves as white slave owners did.
I imagine those slaves wished the Buffalo Soldiers, the famous all black, Indian War fighting, US calvary regiment, formed at the Civil War’s end were around before 1866.
